My OK Hotel - When The Ship Sinks We Stick Together

"On empty streets I stood silent struck with fear, As the city was waking the noise became so clear, The lights kept my eyes shut too bright too strong for me, As the countrysides sleeping and the city shouts at me, And it passed me by…"

The 2007 EP from My OK Hotel brought us a direct and simple debut from the rising Kildare band. Released on indie label Death To Cassette Records, When The Ship Sinks We Stick Together leads off with a tight and delicate delivery of Too Bright, with touches of Snow Patrol-esque harmonies and strong-felt songwriting.

A more subtle Man On Ambulance follows with touches of Elliot Smith and Sparklehorse, rumbling along quite elegantly with a slight alt-country propulsion, while the title track brings out some crunch over another soft and gentle vocal to the tune of calming and waiting through deceptions as the proverbial ship sinks. Closing out with People and Trains, we have a delicate indie lullaby not all that dissimilar to some of Sparklehorses' third album, It's A Wonderful Life. All tracks are available free to download from the My OK Hotel website.
